Do you coach young people in the US?
Do you coach youth aged 13-19?
Are you committed to improving youth mental wellbeing?
In 2021, the American Academy of Pediatrics declared youth mental health to be a national emergency in the United States. In response, Beyond Sport joined with Z Zurich Foundation and Zurich North America on Head in the Game (HITG), a program focusing on prevention, promotion and attitudinal change.
As part of the capacity-building work of the program, Beyond Sport is facilitating training for coaches focused on addressing the needs of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) and/or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning (LGBTQ+) youth. While mental wellbeing challenges exist for all youth demographics, two of the most vulnerable populations are young people who identify as BIPOC and those who identify LGBTQ+.
Coaches will be trained through a mental wellbeing-lens during sessions led by the Center for Healing and Justice through Sport (CHJS) and Doc Wayne, both leading experts on helping coaches develop athlete-focused mental wellbeing programs. This will enable you to:
All participating coaches will receive a Certificate of Completion and will also be invited to participate in an online Learning Community. The Learning Community will bring together expert providers, non-profits, elite organizations, professional sports teams, collegiate athletic teams and others to connect, inspire action, share and celebrate impact.
